Film Wedding Photographer

Honest, considered, and unobtrusive. For couples who care more about the feeling of the day than performing for the camera.
The Experience
Weddings are a rare opportunity that your community can get together and celebrate something wonderful. I don’t take lightly the privilege of being invited along to such an intimate day in someone’s life and I can be someone to help you plan out a day that feels right for you, I can fit in with your community, and help you not sweat the small stuff.
I’m Jen, a Castlemaine and Melbourne-based wedding photographer working exclusively with film and specialising in intimate weddings and elopements.
In this new AI world I have found myself drawn to the timeless and tangible charm of film photography. Giving us a chance to slow down, and take photos with intention. If you are seeking photos that show the honest, subtle parts of love and life, and not a day that feels like a curated magazine spread, we could be a match!

Frequently Asked Questions

I started off shooting film alongside digital photography. Over time, I fell more and more in love with analogue film and craved the time and space to dedicate towards it on a wedding day. Each photo is so full of character. On the day, I bring a couple of fast, modern, reliable film cameras, as well as a medium format camera for portraits and a couple of fun point and shoots / toy cameras.

As I shoot as a one person team, I find smaller weddings allow me to capture your day best, without burning out. I have also noticed over time, intimate weddings have turned out to be my favourite, allowing couples to spend quality time with their people. I will take on a select few larger weddings a year upon request.

Depending on the size of your session, minimum sessions can be expected between 3 and 5 weeks. Full sessions between 8 -10 weeks. Wedding previews are delivered within two weeks of your special day. These will be uploaded to an online gallery where you will be able to download your favourites in low and high-format and share online. You will also be able to order fine art prints or even an album with me should you wish!

Struggled to cut down the guest list? For weddings under 150 I'm all good, anything over I would recommend a second photographer as I can unfortunately only be in one place at a time, and this can be important to make sure nothing gets missed. Reach out via my contact form for my price guide which details the cost of a second photographer.

I do not offer video, so I can focus on creating beautiful photos of your day, and not missing a moment. However, if you would like, I can recommend some wonderful videographers, who will also compliment how I work :)

To lock in your date, a signed contract and a non refundable 25% deposit will be required. The final amount will be due 30 days before your wedding date.

Now you might be wondering why you'd want a bunch of photos of you half ready? I actually love photos of the morning because they really complete the story of the day, capture all those feelings of anticipation, and help you get comfortable having a camera around before things kick off. If you don’t connect with photos of the getting ready part, a fantastic way to make the most of your day is having me arrive once you are ready to get some relaxed family or bridal party photos. Freeing you up after your ceremony to enjoy your guests. Even better, if you are getting ready together, we can get some lovely solo portraits then. We can discuss more options during our first chat. It’s all about what suits you best.

NO! There's not too many people who feel totally at ease when a cameras pointed their way, including me! I promise I'll give you some gentle guidance on how to get the most out of your portrait session but I'll also be keeping it real simple - no awkward poses here! During the rest of the day I'll be sneaking around catching lots of candid goodness and letting you enjoy the day!
Think we might be a good fit?
